As a child
the sun exploded
and left an inky black hole
inside this sleeve of flesh,
traumatized and shaken.
But the darkness inside me
was a staircase of shadows
that ascended the ocean
and led me up through the starry sky
to the diamond
pulsing with blood and fire
at the heart of it all.
